Molly Hovan Named 91͵ÅÄ Executive Director of Elementary School Leadership
Molly Hovan’s leadership role continues to expand in 91͵ÅÄ. The district announced at its April Board of Trustees meeting that Hovan, who currently serves as Senior Director of Teaching and Learning, will now serve as 91͵ÅÄ’s Executive Director of Elementary School Leadership, a position in which she will support, guide and serve as a resource to the district’s elementary principals.

Frazier Elementary 5th grader Alex Derkachov has done what only one other 91͵ÅÄ student has done — qualify for the National MathCon Finals two years in a row!

On Thursday, April 11, 91͵ÅÄ officials, teachers, administrators and community members made their way to the 91͵ÅÄ Community Event Center for the 2024 Teacher of the Year Dinner to honor 91͵ÅÄ’s 31 Campus Teachers of the Year and to announce the 2024 91͵ÅÄ Elementary and Secondary Teachers of the Year.
Webb Principal Maria Hafner Named Principal of Wolford Elementary
After four years as principal of Webb Elementary, Maria Hafner has been chosen to lead Wolford Elementary into the 2024–2025 school year. Hafner is a highly experienced educational leader who brings 29 years to the job, including eight years as a campus administrator.
MHS Grabs Title For Second Year in a Row in 91͵ÅÄ Physics Olympics
McKinney Boyd, McKinney High School and McKinney North met on Wednesday, April 3, for the annual 91͵ÅÄ Battle of the Blues Physics Olympics to vie for bragging rights and the coveted Physics Olympics cup in a series of physics related challenges. MHS won for the second year in a row and the third time overall.
91͵ÅÄ Names Alana Chisum Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources
91͵ÅÄ has hired Alana Chisum as its new Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources. Chisum comes to 91͵ÅÄ from Allen ISD, where she has led their human resources department for the past four years. In all, Chisum brings 16 years in education to the job, including a decade of administrative experience.
Six 91͵ÅÄ Seniors Named 2024 National Merit Finalists
Six 91͵ÅÄ seniors from McKinney Boyd High School, McKinney High School and McKinney North High School who qualified in the fall as National Merit Semifinalists have been named Finalists by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
91͵ÅÄ Board Approves Minor Adjustments to School Boundaries for Actively Developing Subdivisions
Due to the accelerated housing development within the current attendance zones for Frazier Elementary, Press Elementary, Scott Johnson Middle School and McKinney North High School, the 91͵ÅÄ Board of Trustees approved minor adjustments to the school boundaries for the 2024-2025 school year. These adjustments aim to avoid the imminent overcrowding of these schools experiencing fast housing growth.

McKinney Boyd Student Richard Jeong Earns Highest Possible Score on the ACT
Richard Jeong, an 11th grader at McKinney Boyd High School, has achieved what only about one-quarter of 1 percent of ACT test takers accomplish—earning the highest possible composite score of 36 on the ACT.
