Durham School Services Employment

At Durham School Services, everything we do is graded on the performance of our front line and our behind the scenes support. We heavily invest resources in employee recruitment and training because good employees can be hard to find.

We expect all employees to meet stringent selection criteria, which includes drug testing, background checks and an extensive interview process.

We are always looking for qualified drivers and quality employees. If you are at least 21 years of age (or 18 years of age for monitors), think you’ve got what it takes and are interested in the benefits listed below, apply or contact us today!

Bus Evacuation

Each school district is required to conduct a training session for students and teachers concerning procedures for evacuating a school bus during an emergency. The training will be conducted twice each school year, with one training session occurring in the fall and one training session occurring in the spring.

Driver Safety Training and Programs

Durham School Services maintains an outstanding safety record among public and private transportation providers. Durham’s innovative safety program includes:

  • Hiring for Safety: Candidates must pass a motor vehicle check, criminal background check, reference check, employee safety inventory, drug and alcohol screen, and a structured interview before even being considered for training;
  • Training for Safety: By exceeding both state and Federal mandates for school bus driver training in every state in which they operate, Durham ensures that each driver is trained and qualified;
  • Annual Driving Evaluations for all drivers;
  • A Commitment to Safety which each employee personally signs, signifying his or her personal commitment to putting safety first;
  • Reward and recognition programs for accident- and injury-free performance; and
  • Comprehensive safety training for K-3 students.
