At the monthly meeting of the 91͵ÅÄ Board of Trustees on February 28, 91͵ÅÄ named Shawn Pratt the lone finalist in its search for the district’s next superintendent. With that announcement, the board will now observe the state-required 21-day waiting period before officially approving Pratt, who has served most recently as 91͵ÅÄ’s assistant superintendent of student activities, health and safety. Pratt’s career in education spans 30 years, all of it invested here in 91͵ÅÄ as he has progressed from one position of leadership to the next.

On Thursday, February 16, McKinney Boyd High School held its annual Black History Celebration which featured guest speakers Empress Drane and Marta Gore and an African dance performance from the Bandan Koro African Drum and Dance Ensemble.

It’s a Tuesday morning at McGowen Elementary, and it’s difficult to get close enough to speak with the school’s namesake Jesse McGowen, Jr. through the mass of 4th graders clustered around him and clamoring for his attention.

The 91͵ÅÄ two-way dual language program offered at Caldwell Elementary will be accepting applications from February 17, 2023, through April 14, 2023, for the 2023-2024 school year. There are two applications for parents to consider, based on grade level.

91͵ÅÄ will use two days designated as bad weather days on the district calendar to make up for school days missed during the ice storm last week. The district will apply for waivers to cover the other two days that students were out of school.

In January, the 91͵ÅÄ Athletics Department inducted its Hall of Honor Class of 2023 at a special luncheon held at the 91͵ÅÄ Community Event Center. Induction into the Hall of Honor is the highest honor awarded in 91͵ÅÄ Athletics and was established to recognize former student athletes, coaches, teams and community contributors who have made a significant impact on the history of our district’s athletics program.

It’s that time of year again when the possibility of inclement winter weather looms large in local forecasts. So, it’s important to know where to look for accurate information in the event of a 91͵ÅÄ closing or delayed start.

The Texas Association of School Boards has designated January as School Board Recognition Month, and 91͵ÅÄ schools around the district are taking the opportunity to say thank you to the men and women who lead our district.

The Job 91͵ÅÄ Support Staff Job Fair will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 from 3-6 p.m. at the 91͵ÅÄ Community Event Center.
