McKinney, TX — Hosted by 91͵ÅÄ and the Lone Star Conference, the NCAA Division II National Football Championship returns once again to 91͵ÅÄ Stadium on Saturday, Dec. 16, at noon as the Orediggers from Colorado School of Mines and the Harding Bisons meet to decide who will hoist the NCAA DII Championship trophy for 2023.

It’s a repeat appearance for the Orediggers as they return for another shot at the title after falling to Ferris State last year. Both schools are looking for their first DII football championship.

Expect a sold out crowd on hand to see Harding’s potent rushing attack that broke the record for most rushing yards in a single season — a mind-boggling 5,565! — and Colorado School of Mines’ air attack from QB John Matocha who during the semifinal game set a new record when he reached 160 career passing touchdowns.

For many players on both squads, the championship site will feel like playing in front of a hometown crowd as the rosters boast 24 players from the D/FW metroplex and a total of 78 players from Texas.

But, no player will feel more at home when he steps onto the turf at 91͵ÅÄ Stadium than the Orediggers’ Max Fecci, former McKinney North Bulldog and son of current 91͵ÅÄ Associate Athletic Director and former North head football coach Mike Fecci and North teacher Amy Fecci.

“Amy and I could not be more excited for Max to have the chance to come home to where this all started for him at 91͵ÅÄ Stadium,” said Fecci. “He was a member of the McKinney North team that won the first game played at this stadium and to now have a chance to win a National Championship here is beyond words. We are and have been so blessed. “

It looks to be a game that has it all: two great teams in a great venue with great stories to be written. Don’t miss it!
