COVID-19 Mitigation Efforts

As students return to in-person learning this fall, 91͵ÅÄ will continue to take measures to ensure the health and safety of teachers, staff, and students. Schools and campuses should monitor community transmission, strongly encourage staff and students to self-screen before entering the building, and monitor the occurrence of outbreaks to guide decisions on layered prevention strategies. In addition to promoting vaccinations, see below for strategies that are part of a layered approach to health and safety.

Parents and employees will continue to be required to report confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 to campus administration or their supervisor.

Campus Visits by Parents and Community

Visitors will be allowed on campus according to standard visiting rules. All staff, visitors and students (with parental assistance) should monitor for symptoms of illness prior to campus arrival.

Masks Recommended (Not required, per GA-38)

91͵ÅÄ understands that there are differing viewpoints on the issue of wearing masks Please note that in accordance with the Governor’s Executive Order (GA-38) school districts in Texas are not permitted to mandate the wearing of a mask. It is recommended that individuals who are returning day 6-10 after confirmed COVID-19 illness wear an appropriate face mask while around others.

Campuses will work to ensure no student is treated differently as a result of their choice to wear a mask or not wear a mask.

Good Handwashing and Hygiene

Covering coughs and sneezes can help keep educators, staff, and students from getting and spreading COVID-19 and other infectious illnesses.

91͵ÅÄ will reinforce good handwashing etiquette in school by encouraging adults and students to wash their hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Handwashing will be encouraged throughout the school day. In addition, when handwashing is not possible, the district will be providing hand sanitizer containing at least 60 percent alcohol for all adults and students throughout the school day.

Quarantining and Staying Home When Sick

Isolation may end after Day 5 if the staff member is fever-free for 24 hours without medication and other have resolved. While not required, Collin County Health Care Services recommends that individuals wear a mask during Day 6 – Day 10 upon return.
